Recent acquisitions have placed major Canadian manufacturers under U.S. ownership. These changes have prompted many customers to ask whether MEI will begin sourcing products through organizations whose primary responsibility is to a foreign parent company rather than the Canadian market.

The recent acquisitions mean that a significant portion of the sorbent products distributed in Canada will now originate from U.S.-owned manufacturers. As supply chains continue to consolidate, Canadian customers will have fewer opportunities to purchase products through independent Canadian-owned organizations.
Where will MEI get its products?
We're a Canadian company serving Canadian industry. Our goal isn't to maximize profits for a foreign parent company—it's to provide reliable products, fair pricing, and responsive service for the customers who keep this country running.
We continue to manufacturer our own select products and source through 100% Canadian owned businesses whenever practical. For products that are not manufactured competitively in Canada, we work directly with trusted manufacturing partners in Asia rather than through multiple layers of distribution. This allows us to maintain quality standards, improve product availability, and provide better value to our customers.
Our focus is simple: deliver dependable products at fair prices while supporting Canadian businesses and the industries that rely on them every day.
The Canadian spill response market is changing, but MEI's commitment remains the same. If you have questions about where a product is sourced or manufactured, we encourage you to ask. We believe transparency matters, and we're proud to tell our customers exactly where their products come from and why.
